Young Women Choosing Health

“Young Women Choosing Health”  (video resource)

The video link below, "Young Women Choosing Health”, features presenters at the 2012 Weenthunga Health Day: Women’s Talk, and follows a student’s (Danika’s) journey from attending the day through to her career choice.  Danika speaks with Steff Armstrong, Weenthunga’s Health and Education Consultant.

The purpose of the Weenthunga Health Days: Women’s Talk is to provide an opportunity for young First Australian women (Years 10 – 12) to participate in a focused health day to raise their awareness of the importance of healthy lives and to see the possibilities of health careers.  They meet and listen to a range of First Australian women health professionals and hopefully this influences their understandings and decisions with their own health and career ideas. Listening to these health professionals may inspire them to continue with their schooling, seek scholarships and maybe even undertake health courses – like these women before them.

For Teachers:  A Guide guide has been prepared that will ideally be used by Career teachers who are advising and supporting First Australian students with career choices and relevant subject selections as they pertain to the broader health industry. Please download here:  Digital Version  or Printable Booklet version.
