BUSINESS MANAGER

Weenthunga is a Victorian network of people working in health who want to make a difference in Indigenous health. Its two key objectives are to encourage and support young First Australians into health careers and to improve the knowledge and collaboration of health practitioners working with First Australians and their communities.

The Weenthunga Health Network is seeking to recruit an experienced Business Manager to join the leadership team in Weenthunga. The position is for 15 hrs/wk which can be worked flexibly either from home or from an office in Collingwood. 

You will work within Weenthunga’s collaborative First Australian and Australian working model with Weenthunga’s Executive Officer and Health and Education Consultant. The key roles are providing executive support and managing the administrative and financial functions of a very small, virtual staff team. There is great capacity for aspects of the job roles to be tailored to your skills, interests and expertise.

 Business ManagerPosition Description 

The Business Manager’s duties will be carried out in accordance with principles of workplace diversity, workplace participation, safe working environment and the empowerment of First Australian people. 

The Business Manager will be responsible for:

Providing executive assistance to the Executive Officer and the Health and Education Consultant

 Further developing and maintaining operational management tools, files and records to underpin Weenthunga’s compliance obligations and various activities

Organising events, meetings, drafting agendas, minutes and reports

Providing administrative support to a newly established online networking forum

Other duties as required. 

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential

Experience in financial and administrative management roles with demonstrated decision-making skills, initiative, and ability to work without supervision

Excellent oral and written communication skills

High-level computer competencies in Microsoft Office

Attention to detail and high-level organisation skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Commitment to working within a First Australian led organisation. 

Desirable

Competent in MYOB

Experience in web-based platforms

Confident, personable communicator

Relaxed, flexible 

Interest in contributing to strategies addressing the inequality in Indigenous health in Victoria
